During my Spanish course, I was first introduced to the "he hablado", "has hablado" past perfect tense as the main way of expressing past events, but now I caught up to the "hablé" "hablaste" tense, which in practice appears to have the exact same meaning. What's the difference? Is it like English "I have spoken" and "I spoke"? Does Spanish perfect also serve the same purpose as English "I have been speaking"? Are they both used just as commonly or is one more natural in day to day conversion?
