queremos quedar vs queremos quedarnos

hello, is it same thing to say ''queremos quedarnos en casa hoy'' and ''queremos quedar en casa hoy''
is it necessary to add -nos to end of the verb here? if I say quedar it will be wrong?
I learn with duolingo and I don't understand the difference.
