Spanish courses at your teachers' home
Our Spanish courses in Spain are 100% tailored to your needs. We offer Spanish courses for all levels, in small groups allowing us to focus on your individual needs and interests.
Beginners will learn Spanish for everyday situations whereas, in the more advanced courses, students become involved in selecting topics for discussion according to their individual needs and interests.
Our Spanish immersion courses take place in a family environment where apart from studying Spanish you will be able to blend into our lifestyle.
You will be sharing our family lifestyle, you will have meals with all the family, play with our twin daughters, help cooking, go to the supermarket or watch telly with us among other things. We will welcome you as another member of our family.
However, we speak fluent English so that you won’t ever feel isolated and you will have your own bedroom with en-suite bathroom to keep your privacy.
In this area, students will be able to practice Spanish outside the classroom – at local shops, cafes, walks, etc.- as not many people speak English here.
You can spend your free time enjoying one of the many walks that you can take from our doorstep or take one of our bikes and ride along the old railway track. Puente Viesgo is also famous because of its prehistoric caves -UNESCO’s World Heritage Site- and the Spa (Balneario de Puente Viesgo).
What you get
Right on the doorstep you have an idyllic landscape of mountains and green valleys with the river Pas at the bottom and heights of more than 1,000 m. at the peak of the mountains.
Everything lies within just 36.10 square kilometers, where you will enjoy natural forests, green hills, thrilling views, and the opportunity to see a variety of animals and birds.
From our home you have impressive walks. Easy flat walks or up the mountains.
In Puente Viesgo, a 20 minutes walk from our home, you can also enjoy the impressive prehistoric caves of Monte Castillo, where humans lived 200,000 years ago. They is a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. The caves have fascinating paintings made by humans around 40,000-19,000 BC. The oldest cave drawings in the world. You can also visit the new Prehistoric museum in Puente Viesgo on your way to the caves. After exploring all these valleys and mountains, why not relax in one of the most famous spas in Spain. El Balneario de Puente Viesgo offers you different treatments for improving your health.
Finally, if you want to have a drink or eat out, local bars and restaurants offer very good value for money and delicious regional cuisine. There is also a small supermarket in our little village where you can buy wine or local sweets.
If you come with your family we recommend you to hire a car to make the most of your trip and also visit one of the many lovely towns worth a visit in our region.
You can also take some excursions at an extra cost, either to a lively city like Santander, a medieval town like Santillana del Mar or to Comillas to see one of Gaudi’s most famous buildings. There are many other excursions you can take.

We don’t have any problem in preparing special meals, although we will charge an extra when it implies an extra cost or extra work. For example if you are completely vegan or you don’t eat neither eggs or milk it will mean that we have to buy special products and prepare completely different meals from the rest. You must understand that this is not a restaurant but a family home.
Weather & cloths
We have mild winters and warm summers. Good months to travel here are from June to November, being the hottest July and August. As we’re located in Green Spain where it rains frequently, please, bring an umbrella or raincoat as well as some warm clothes.
Apart from a raincoat or umbrella, for walking on local paths around our home, we recommend you to bring mountain boots or your most comfortable shoes. And don’t forget your swimming costume in case you go to the swimming-pool, the spa or the beach. You will also need something warm and some T-shirts because the weather in Cantabria is unpredictable.
Travel insurance is recommended, as is personal liability insurance for any claims that may arise. Please make sure that you have personal liability insurance.
