I was listening to an episode of the podcast StoryLearning Spanish and there is a portion I am having trouble understanding. I'll provide some context to the sentence as well:
I made bold the word I am having trouble with. Why is la there? I am especially confused because the person in the story she is asking, Julio, is male. Is la not referring to the subject, but an object? If so, what is the object here?
